Regime Thugs Attack Karroubi's Home

Here is the story from Mousavi's Facebook:

A number of pro-government thugs attacked Mehdi Karroubi’s home and vandalized the building. This group wrote insulting and offensive statements on the walls of Karroubi’s residence and threw red paints at his building complex. Karroubi’s family confirmed this news but there has been no official reaction from Mehdi Karroubi himself or Etemad Melli party (Karroubi is the General Secretary of Etemad Melli party).

There have been no reports on police intervention and or any effort by the police to stop this illegal gathering and stopping the thugs from attacking Karroubi`s residence.

Previously Karroubi`s wife in an open letter to the people of Iran had announced that similar incident had happened and their house was attacked by pro-government thugs with tomato and eggs and caused inconvenience for their neighbours as well. She also stated that she has a video of that incident which will make public at the right time if she thinks it is necessary.

Pro-government propaganda reported this incident as “a group of people and family members of martyrs protested in front of Mehdi Karroubi’s house and demanded his arrest and prosecution” while this attacks were staged by a small number of pro-government thugs and plain clothes militia which had nothing to do with the martyr’s families.

Karroubi who had been attacked before few times during the public demonstrations and his trips to other cities by hardliners have repeatedly announced that these kind of actions would never make him give up his fight for people`s rights. Ali, karroubi`s youngest son, was also arrested and tortured during Feb 11th rally on the anniversary of the Islamic Republic. Also the passports of Hossein and Mohammad-Taghi, Karroubi`s other sons, were confiscated by government agents and they have been banned from leaving the country. Also last week Karroubi`s wife’s weekly, Iran-Dokht, was shut down by the government.

Given all these Mehdi Karroubi and his family has always emphasised that they are ready for anything and will never ever give up on people’s legitimate demands and rights which erupted after the rigged presidential election and the wide spread fraud which resulted in the election coup and the return of Ahmadinejad to power.
