16 of Azar
December 7 known as 16 of Azar in Persian is National Students Day. It was created to commemorate the university student protests against then Vice-President Nixon visiting Iran only a few months after an American backed coup against the democratically elected government of Mossadeq. Tomorrow is supposed to be a day to honor university students and their contribution to Iran.
Instead of allowing students to protest in any way they want since it is their day, the regime has made threats that any Green protests will be severely broken up. It is ironic that this day is supposed to celebrate students protesting in the face of tyranny more than 50 years ago, but that the regime won't let students today protest against tyranny. It is amazing how history can repeat itself since students will stand up tomorrow and protest the regime despite the threats.
The Green Movement is planning protests at universities across the country. Check back to see what will happen.
