Clashes Take Place Today
This video is from Tuesday December 8 at Tehran University. It seems that clashes between students and Basij are still taking place. This is what is happening according to Mousavi's Facebook:
Since this morning (Dec 8, 2009) groups of IRG members and Basij militia have attacked Tehran and Beheshti Universities. According to report by Amir Kabir students’ news letter, this morning Tehran University’s doors were opened by the university security forced to IRG members and Basij militia so that they could enter the university. This happened after the fact that the students of Tehran University had a gathering today in protest to yesterday’s plain clothes militia brutally beating students. According to the report many students have been detained and police has attacked students with batons and pepper sprays.
At the same time, several bus loads of Basij militia and plain clothes thugs have been transferred from outside the university to make up a show rally in Beheshti University. According to the report by Amir Kabir students’ news letter, this group moved toward the school of law of this university, shut down classes and savagely beat students. According to witnesses currently there are about 200 Basij militia and 300 students are facing each other and chanting slogans against each other.
Yesterday, students of Beheshti University with their self-motivated and enthusiastic movement commemorated Student Day. In that protest students chanted strong slogans against the government’s officials and chanted “God is great”. On the opposite side from Evin hills (outside the university) Basij militia and Ansar Hezbollah thugs who had been bused by the government to Beheshti University along with the Basij members from within the university who gathered in front of the boys’ cafeteria and chanted slogans like “Mousavi doesn’t have anything else” and “Death to those who oppose the Supreme Leader”.
Because of the brutal beating of the students by Basij militia and plain clothes thugs, the university’s atmosphere is still inflamed.
