Essentially What Is Going On at Show Trial
NIAC translates, "we were…..revolution…..velvet matches……I’m sorry the interrogator’s hand writing is not readable."
Update: The NIAC translation is a bit of a simplification of a very funny joke so I will try to explain the more complex version. In Farsi, corduroy is phrased as velvet matches because of the small columns it has and its velvety texture. In the cartoon, the judge asks the defendent if he was part of velvet revolution to overthrow the system. The defendent replies that he is not wearing corduory or velvet matchsticks. It is a pun to show that the defendents have nothing to do with a velvet revolution and do not know their own confession.
