Ayatollah Dastgheib has called for a meeting of the clerical body the Assembly of Experts to address the situation in Iran:
“I am requesting in a friendly manner and with the best intentions, I say that before it is too late, the Experts should organize a meeting to save face, which should publicly discuss the issues that we need to review, and answer to the desire of the people, which is their duty under the Constitution. It should also answer to the complaints of the people, as expressed by their representatives, Mr. Mousavi and Mr. Karroubi.”
This shows again the deep divisions in the country and the clerical establishment moving away from the regime.
