Why Iran Might Want a Nuclear Weapon

Following up on the previous post, I just want to outline why Iran might want a nuclear weapon because I feel like this perspective is never given by those who want to automatically go to war with Iran.

Just to make it clear, I don't believe Iran should have a nuclear weapon because I don't think it would serve regional peace. Again some people don't believe it is worth it to look at other people's perspective, but you can better understand an issue if you understand all perspectives.

When Iran looks at the region, this is what it sees:

- 200,000 American troops on Iran's borders in Iraq and Afghanistan. Several tens of thousands more troops in gulf countries such as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. America possessing a nuclear arsenal in the thousands.
- Israel having a nuclear arsenal probably in the hundreds.
- Russia a few hundred miles from Iran's border possessing thousands of nuclear weapons.
- Pakistan on Iran's border with a shaky government and a strong Sunni insurgency possessing nuclear weapons.
- India several hundred miles away possessing nuclear weapons.
