Hardline Parties Put Pressure on Ahmadinejad

As I argued before, there are roughly 4 factions in Iran right now: reformists, pragmatic conservatives, Ahmadinejad loyalist, and hardliners loyal to ruling clerics. Clearly there has been a lot of tension between the Ahmadinejad and the other regime loyalists.

Well a letter from 14 of the leading conservative parties called the Front Loyal to Imam and Leadership demands that Ahmadinejad listen to Khamenei. The letter is an unusual move because it shows the amount of division and hostility that exist among the shaky coaltion running the country:

"If, God forbid, you pursue an approach different from the one elucidated by the supreme leader [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] because of your refusal to consult the honest friends of the revolution, or you lose public faith out of obstinacy, we fear that the regime would suffer irreparable damage."
