Khamenei "Endorses" Ahmadinejad

Ahmadinejad kisses Khamenei on the shoulder in a bizarre exchange

Two days before the actual inauguration, Khamenei "endorses" Ahmadinejad as President according to guidelines in the Iranian constitution.

Rafsanjani did not attend the ceremony along with obviously Mousavi, Khatami, and Karroubi. Also no one from Khomeini's family and there was a boycott from reformists in parliament.

Also the description of the two interacting should give you an idea about the relationship between the two men:

"Ahmadinejad appeared to approach Khamenei to kiss his hand, but the leader stopped him. The two exchanged words, Ahmadinejad smiled, and then Khamenei allowed him to kiss his robe on his shoulder."

State media claimed Ahmadinejad had a cold, but I think it is clear that the two men have grown to dislike each other.
