Rafsanjani Blasts Trial Confessions

After being implicated by the false confessions in court, Rafsanjani has denied that he worked with Khatami and Mousavi to help create the unrest. In a statement released through the Expediency Council which Rafsanjani heads, he say to have had no part in organizing the post-election protests.

Rafsanjani also questioned the legitimacy of the confessions, "it is unclear that under which conditions and considerations these confessions have been made." This clearly implies that those who gave the confessions had been torurted. Hopefully the entire clerical establishment will see this trial as the crime that it is and call the regime out on it.
