Responding to the show trial, Mohsen Rezaei a former head of the Republican Guard and conservative, calls for the trial of those security forces that broke the law.
In a letter to Iran's Head of Judiciary Ayatollah Shahroudi, Rezaei said it was unfair to try protesters who supposedly broke the law and not try to security forces who also broke the law.
Rezaei wants a trial for "the security forces who attacked Tehran University's dormitory and classes in Isfahan University", "those responsible for battering the prisoners including Mohsen Ruholamini", and "those responsible for assaulting peaceful protestors in the street."
Mohsen Ruholamini was the son of one of Rezaei's top advisors who was killed by the regime in jail. No doubt, Rezaei is feeling the pressure to investigate his death and the death of so many ohters.
Rezaei is attempting to speak out against the regime without seeming too critical because he does not want to get it trouble. He is framing his arguement as one that everyone who broke the law should be punished. Sadly he does not argue that none of the protesters broke the law when they fought back against the illegal actions of this regime. Moreover Rezaei's demand for a trial of those security forces who broke the law would mean that thousands of members of this regime should go on trial.
