Khamenei himself will lead Friday prayers in Tehran for the second time since the election. Ramadan is coming to an end and several important religious days are coming up later in the month including Quds days during the last Friday of Ramadan. The opposition is planning to use this day to plan demonstrations around the world against the regime.
Perhaps Khamenei wants to give prayers to calm down the situation, but the grievences of the people must be heard.
