This Friday is the crucial Qods day in which the opposition is planning mass protests. It is still unclear as to who is actually going to be leading the Friday Prayers at Tehran University.
Rafsanjani has been scheduled to lead the prayers for nearly a week. He would probably give a sermon more sympathetic to the opposition and would allow for a better protest. However other government sources are saying that hardline cleric Ahmad Khatami will lead the prayers and Ahmadinejad will talk before him. I guess we will have to wait and see, but it is clear the regime is getting worried about Friday.
